What a July!

This is a long one...
Our first July visitors kept us very busy. We were so happy to have Abuela, Jenn & Bodhi come to stay for a few days. We packed tons of toddler activities into their visit...trips to the pool, the aquarium, the museum...and constant play time. The cousins played great together and with minimum meltdowns, even naps went smooth. On the adult side, it was nice to hang out with the girls. It was nice to see my best bud from college (yes, also Joe's sister) do her parenting thing. I can definitely take some cues from her. I hope I can remember to not worry about the little things so much, something that Joe's family is much better at. So, here are some photos of the boys & girls...
There was milk drinking
oreo eating
aquarium exploring
shoulder riding
bus riding
bus driving
bathing buddies
and snuggling
Ah ha...this post isn't over yet. Last week, more best buds came to visit. Our dear friends Amy & Tom came all the way from Guam! Okay, not just to visit us, the Coast Guard was sending them to some conference, but still! Joe had to work and was only able to visit for a day before he flew to California. But here are some of the fun things we did...
Tom, Robin & I went to Virginia Beach. Robin wouldn't leave the towel :(. We coaxed him off with his sandals on to kick a ball, but he still wasn't having it.

Later that day, Joe was able to accompany us the the YMCA pool. Tom was able to convince me to go down the grown-up slide twice.

We also went to the Botanical Gardens, which is a great place for adults and kids, but it was SOOO hot.

And then, yes, we had MORE visitors. My Mom and my Uncle Aaron came for a week. Again, it was great to have other people around. I even got to leave the house a few times by myself!
Here are some highlights...

bead making and wearing was popular
bathing in the sink...a luxury only Grammy provides

Thank you to all our visitors this month. We had so much fun and look forward to more visits in the future. We love you.

4th of July videos

It was a typical family day for us, nothing over the top. No fireworks, no cookouts, but there was still plenty of fun.
We started the day with a trip to the YMCA pool...

We later went to a local mall and rode the carousel...

...and even more fun was riding the escalator...

This is the life-mom's snuggly robe and some milk.

Stay tuned...we are currently having massive amounts of fun with our current visitors (Abuela, cousin Bodhi, and Auntie Jenn). Until next time!

Proud Spouse

A while back Joe found one of those red, white & blue magnets in the shape of a ribbon. It says, "Proud Spouse" on it. We giggled and it's been on the fridge ever since. I'm not saying we're not patriotic or anything, we just don't go around displaying it. Unlike our son, who gets thrilled every time he sees an American flag. Anyway, I am a proud spouse because my husband will be a LCDR on Tuesday. He never gives himself enough credit for the work he does. He's a great leader and a great person. So, Congratulations, Joe. We love you and are very proud of you.

Oh, in other news, Robin has peed and pooped in the potty! I know it's too early to get excited about potty training, but it's still a step in the diaper-free direction. My apologies to anyone who finds this topic gross or ridiculous.

Summer starts today...

...but it feels like it has been in full swing already.
Our neighborhood's Icecream Social. I so wanted to go, but went to yoga class instead. Joe said it wasn't that great anyway. I'm sorry, but a free icecream sundae?! How can't that be great?

This is our neighbor Nevaeh, Robin's best new buddy, with her mom Candace. Nevaeh is only 5 days older than Robin. They went to the icecream social too.

What do you do when you get bored with your own toys? rummage through closets and play with vaccuums, air pumps, and try on Daddy's coats. My little goofball.
I'm not one to buy lots of toys , especially since the family hooks us up with toys when they visit. However, I saw the cutest Dora/Diego ...and who are we kidding here? BOOTS bath toy at Babies R Us. I had to get it. Here is Robin gripping Boots.
